Policy for Allowing Access to Alumni Database
- The Law Alumni Connection is an online alumni community provided by the University of Virginia School of Law and the Law School Foundation. There is a presumption of no access by anyone other than University of Virginia School of Law alumni.
- The Law School has taken precautions to secure the personal information available through the Law Alumni Connection. The service is password protected to allow access to registered alumni only. The LAC is situated on a secure web site.
- Through the management of an individual’s alumni profile, alumni are in control of what information is shared with fellow alumni.
- Information contained herein is to be used exclusively for a personal or firm announcement.
- Without exception, none of the information herein may be used for political purposes. Other prohibited uses include, but are not limited to: advertising or commercial solicitation; spamming or mass mailings; illegal or fraudulent activities; uses that can be confused with official Law School communications.
- No group, including students, faculty or graduates, will be granted authority to use alumni directory information if its interests are contrary to the mission of the Foundation or Alumni Association or if it seeks to raise funds in opposition to the development efforts of the Law School. Also, no group or member of a group receiving information regarding alumni may retain such information in a database or by any other means without express authority.
If the Law School or Law School Foundation determines a user’s participation may create liability for the School or Foundation, or that the user has violated policies set forth, the School and Foundation reserve the right to take actions against the user. Users may be expelled or denied further access to the Law Alumni Connection.
